Campbell and DJ Running for the Bali Children Foundation
On 25 May 2024 we will be running 84km together overnight coast-to-coast across Bali to help lift up a disadvantaged community in Bali with the award-winning Bali Children Foundation.
This is DJ's 5th year of running the Bali Hope Ultra, and Campbell's debut ultra-marathon after crewing for his Dad for the first 2 years of this event in 2018 and 2019.
Having spent quite a bit of time now with the Foundation, seeing what they achieve on the ground and how entire communities they work in are elevated through their efforts, we know first-hand that not a single donated dollar goes to waste.
This is much more than simply building schools or providing funds, it is a holistic approach to education across generations in a way that ensures the sustainability and improved quality of life for all Balinese people whose lives are touched by the Foundation.
While Indonesia has experienced steady economic growth in recent years, inequality remains a pressing challenge and more than 70 million people continue to live below the World Bank's poverty line of $3.20 per day.
In that context, you can see how even the smallest of donations makes a difference to these communities. $20 can put an elementary school child through a scholarship for an entire month or $200 for an entire year. $430 for an entire high school year.
Funding is also used to ensure students have adequate technology, curriculums are presented to a high standard and teachers are given the tools and resources they need. All things that we take for granted in Australia and which we would love your help in continuing to bring to Bali, so that they too can take a quality education for granted for generations to come.

Many of children we first supported back in 2018 are now graduating high school, heading off to university or working in various industries across the island and beyond, improving the quality of their lives, their families and their communities.

It is such a privilege to be able to be part of this event and to play even a small role in helping this incredible organisation achieve its goals. The last 4 events have been full of such special moments for the participants as well and every finish line has been an emotional one!

We can't wait to get back out there with everyone heading over this year. We're particularly looking forward to spending some time in the company of this beautiful island, its custodians, and the kids we support who despite having so little, are so grateful for the educational opportunities that are provided to them, and among the happiest kids we've ever come across.
