The Journey So Far and 2026 Impact
This will be my 6th running journey across this beautiful Island raising funds for the Bali Children Foundation and the communities that it supports. 65 primary school students from the Tigawasa area that the run supported in my first year of 2018, have already graduated high school and 21 are at tertiary level or beyond. To see 30% of Year 12 students continue on to Tertiary study was previously unheard of in this village. And that effect has just multiplied year on year as the run has grown.
BCF itself has now supported more than 30,000 students over its history, and in turn those students help sustain generational change across Northern Bali.
This run means so much to me personally, not just because of its impact but because of the countless special moments that have taken place along the way - my son Campbell spent 2 years supporting the run before joining me in 2024 to become the youngest person to run the 84km BHU at 19 years of age. My best mate Jase Cronshaw and I ran as sweeps in 2019 (in the most unsuitable running safari suits ever) and then after his passing in 2022 I ran alongside his wife Jacqui as she completed her first ever ultra marathon in his memory.
It is such a privilege to be able to be part of this event and to play even a small role in helping this incredible organisation achieve its goals.
I can't wait to get back out there as a support runner in 2026, and this time will be heading over a week early to run alongside The Goat Pete Kavanagh over a 200km course around the East Coast of Bali, for his personal BCF fundraising project #FootstepsforFutures.
Ultimately I can't wait to just spend some time in the company of this beautiful Island, its custodians, and the kids we support who despite having so little, are so grateful for the educational opportunities that are provided to them, and among the happiest kids I've ever come across on this planet.
Every step we take in these life-changing runs is for these children. Funds raised this year will go directly toward improving schools in Gobleg, as well as a community centre near Lovina (where the run commences each year) creating vibrant, engaging and empowering environments where children can learn, grow and dream big.
Every donation, no matter the amount, can make a real difference and both the children of Bali and me personally are incredibly grateful for any support that you can provide.
