The 2024 Bali Hope Ultra

I am running 84km overnight coast-to-coast across Bali to help lift-up a disadvantaged community in Bali with the award-winning Bali Children Foundation. Please support me by donating.

$220 puts an elementary school child through a scholarship for one year.

$100 provides food support and essential vitamins for a malnourished child for 3 months.

Everyone should have the right to education…. you can help make that happen with Bali Children Foundation.

So, here we are again! I'm gearing up for another 84 km Ultra Marathon across Bali, an overnight journey that pushes my limits. But this isn't about personal achievement. It's about supporting the vital work of the Bali Children Foundation and making a difference to the lives of children.

Your donations directly benefit local communities in Bali. When you sponsor this initiative, you're giving children in challenging circumstances the opportunity to receive an education. Basic education keeps them in school longer and paves the way for higher education and technical training. The Bali Children Foundation has already helped thousands of children complete school and improve their futures.

The foundation provides English, environmental, and computer studies in 76 communities across Bali, Nusa Lembongan, Lombok, and the Gilis. They also train teachers, ensuring quality education.

I've been involved in the English as a foreign language program and have visited schools, witnessing the impact of your donations firsthand. But there's more work to be done.

Last year the Bali Hope Ultra runners raised an impressive $100,000 for Bali Chidlren Foundation.  Thank you to everyone who supported me personally and donated, I really value your support. These children are our future, and providing them with opportunities now can lead to remarkable achievements.

My goal this year is to raise more money and more awareness - As part of my ongoing work  with BCF my aim this year is to provide a literacy pack to every child the foundation supports, containing a small whiteboard, pens, alphabet letters, and essential resources for phonics, reading, and writing.

In the coming months, I'll keep you updated on my Ultra Marathon training, the highs and the lows! And also the EFL work I am doing with BCF. Please stay engaged and reach out if you have any questions or want to make a difference. Together, we can create brighter futures for these children.

My Updates

New Year Goals

Tuesday 27th Feb
Welcome to 2024! Well we are well into 2024, life, as ever, has been crazily busy but training is going well!

Last year when I entered the Bali Hope Ultra I did so becuase a) I love a challenge and b) I love the foundation and the work it does. I felt the 2 things combined encapsulate me! Pushing yourself hard and the right to education. What I didn't factor in was the pain and perserverence you have to go through to actually run an Ultra Marathon! I remember asking one of the (amazing) supporters how many kms I had left to go (I had paused my watch at the half way point and forgot to restart it - and I knew that was at least 3 hours ago!!) and they couldn't tell me...I was mentally broken and internally shouting at myself as to why I enter these challenges at all!! (I remember doing the same thing for the 312 in Mallorca...and the half marathon, back when I couldn't run!!). Anyway, I did complete the Ultra Marathon, 'running' over the finish line thanks to Sean Bell ..who was there throughout to support us - absolute legend! And I knew then that I had to return. I had to do it again and this time run it properly and enjoy every moment of the run. So that is what I intend to do in May. I have been training hard thanks to First42k - based in Australia Sean and David are both huge parts of Bali Hope Ultra. I can feel how much fitter I am than last year and we still have some time to go. It's not easy to fit in training, I'm also setting up a new business and have a new puppy ...nothing like a bit of chaos in your life! But making time now for the training pays off massively on the run.

For me, the hardest part is the fundraising....but this year I am just going to go for it. To everyone who sponsored me last year, thank you so much and your money has already made an impact on the lives of the children at the school we visited. I've upped my fundraising target this year - I know we can reach it ...or even surpass it. Please help by sharing this page, donating and spreading the word.
