Help Us Help Nusa Lembongan!

Love for Lembongan

Love for Lembongan is back with education and health focused initiatives to further support the Lembongan community.

Your donation will help us achieve these goals :

1. EdTech
Introduction of EdTech solutions to facilitate Remedial Literacy and Numeracy education for grade 2 to 6 students in Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan, utilizing tablets and specialized apps. We are seeking funds to support at least 65 students who require improvement in their numeracy and literacy skills through tablets and welfare of the teachers.

This initiative which was relaunched in September 2024, is already making a meaningful impact, reaching 147 Grade 1 students across five schools: SDN 1 Lembongan, SDN 2 Lembongan, SDN 3 Lembongan, SDN 1 Jungutbatu, and SDN 3 Jungutbatu. A recent assessment conducted by the Bali Children Foundation showed that students from Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan outperformed those in other regencies in Bali, including Buleleng, Bangli, and Tabanan, where schools also participate in the EdTech program. The students here achieved the highest midline scores in both literacy and numeracy—an encouraging result!

2. Teacher & program funding
Ensure funding is met to sustain the presence of BCF teachers at 7 schools, who provide English as Foreign Language (EFL), STEAM-H (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math, Humanity), EdTech for grade 1 students, and Youth Empowerment by educating and training junior & senior high school students with environmental issues to help keep Lembongan and Ceningan clean.

3. Priority Patients
Continued support for the Priority Patients program, assisting individuals seeking treatment for early epilepsy, behavioural and mobility issues, plus speech therapy.

4. Health care for the community
Continue working with Bunda (our ‘island angel’ and certified nurse) to provide health support to the elderly and disadvantaged.

We are currently updating and reviewing our list of patients, as some of the elderly individuals we previously cared for have, sadly, passed away. While supporting seniors and children remains a key focus, this year we are also expanding our efforts to women’s and reproductive health. Through a new partnership with Bunda, we will be conducting Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) screenings—an early detection method for cervical cancer—among local residents.

Your donations are crucial in ensuring these vital healthcare initiatives continue to run, keeping Nusa Lembongan a healthy and thriving community.

5. Emergency Relief and Community Support

Last year, we supported a local resident, Ketut Stanley, who lost his home and belongings in a devastating fire. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to provide him with essential supplies to help him rebuild his life.

This year, we remain committed to providing emergency relief for local families facing unexpected hardships. Whether it’s medical emergencies, natural disasters, or other crises, your support allows us to respond swiftly and make a tangible difference in people’s lives.

As we continue our mission, we remain dedicated to expanding access to healthcare and education in Nusa Lembongan. Every donation, big or small, plays a vital role in sustaining and growing these initiatives.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our donors and supporters who make this work possible. Together, we are creating lasting change.

Women’s Health in Focus: VIA Test with Bunda

On 14th May 2025, we partnered with Bunda, our registered nurse on Nusa Lembongan, to run a VIA (Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid) screening for early detection of cervical cancer. Held in a comfortable and confidential setting, the program reached 30 local mothers of Nusa Lembongan.

Beyond the test itself, Bunda provided personalised health education, raising awareness about cervical cancer prevention and the importance of regular checkups. For many of these women, this was more than a health service—it was a moment of empowerment and reassurance. With early detection being key, we’re proud to support initiatives that prioritise the wellbeing of Lembongan’s women and families.

EdTech Accelerates and Makes Learning Fun

Our EdTech and English as a Foreign Language (EFL) programs continue to thrive! Since launching in September 2024, 147 Grade 1 students across five local schools now use tablets loaded with engaging literacy and numeracy apps. During our March 2025 visit to SDN 3 Lembongan, we saw how this technology is making learning more fun and effective. We're thrilled to share that students from Nusa Lembongan and Ceningan achieved the highest midline scores in Bali—an incredible testament to their progress!

Priority Patient Visit with Bunda

Alone we can do a little,

Together we can do so much!

When we started @love_for_lembongan in 2020, we met many faces of the community; from children to seniors who were in dire need of help.

Since then we have committed ourselves to do what we can to support their health and wellbeing in whatever ways we can, with the help of Bunda (@rakamanik_puja), a professionally trained nurse and Jungutbatu local.

In May 2024, we went to visit 10 patients in Lembongan village and Nusa Ceningan, for home visits and health check ups. With her utmost tender care, Bunda checked on each patient, gave medication, milk, and other essentials, thanks to donation from Love for Lembongan.

The patients are varied in conditions, some showed progress whilst some required further attention and care. Most of them live in a remote part of the island, with rocky roads and limited access but seeing the patients smile after our visit brings us the most joy.

Support our initiative by donating through the link in our bio and help us build a thriving community through health and education.
