🌟 Join Us in Making a Positive Change - Support the Bali Hope Swimrun! 🌟

đŸŠâ€â™€ïžđŸƒâ€â™‚ïž This September, I will be embarking on an incredible journey, with my teammate Silvio, by participating in The Bali Hope Swimrun, and we're driven by a powerful mission - to safeguard and uplift the wonderful community on the island of Lembongan, Bali. Bali Hope has partnered with the esteemed charity, the Bali Children Foundation, to amplify the impact. And now, we need your support!

Why We Need Your Help:

đŸ’« $220: You can provide an elementary school child with a scholarship for a full year. Education is the beacon of hope, and your contribution can illuminate the path to a brighter future.

♻ $100: You're enabling Bali Children Foundation to make strides in developing the community recycling centre. Sustainable practices are the foundation of a healthier environment, and your support can help us build a greener future.

Our Commitment: Giving Back to the Community

We are passionate about giving back to the community that has embraced us with warmth and kindness. Bali has enriched our lives with extraordinary experiences, and it's our privilege to give back. We are dedicated to making a positive impact, no matter the scale, and every donation brings us closer to our goal.

Our Mission: Breaking the Cycle of Illiteracy

We firmly believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle of illiteracy and generational poverty. When we educate a child, we empower not just them, but their entire family and community. Your support can help us create a ripple effect of positive change. Join us in this noble cause and be part of the movement to provide education, hope, and a chance at a brighter future for the community in Lembongan, Bali.

🙏 How You Can Make a Difference:

By visiting my fundraising page and making a donation -- whether you are able to donate $5, $25, $50 or $100 AUD, every single dollar counts!

Your generosity will help Bali Children Foundation realise their mission and create lasting change in the lives of those we aim to support. Thank you for being a part of our journey and for helping us break the cycle of illiteracy and generational poverty.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Henrietta Niké

My Why Behind Joining the Bali Hope SwimRun

📚 Why Education Matters!

Having travelled the world, at times the not so pretty parts, as well as having lived on the beautiful island that is Bali, I am very grateful I was born and raised in a country where good education is a given. Quality education is easily available and very affordable (for those that need support, it is free).

Being in international student recruitment, from Asia to Australia, I often deal with students and parents that can afford or have saved all of their lives (often combined as a whole family) to send their son or daughter overseas. When doing research and via conversation I also learn about those that are struggling to even get the basic education.

I strongly believe that every child should have access to quality education because it empowers them with knowledge and skills to break the cycle of poverty, often for generations. This is evident in places like Bali and Nusa Lembongan, where a strong sense of community extends beyond families. When more children receive education and acquire skills, not only do their immediate families benefit, but the entire community reaps the reward. Over time, this fosters economic growth, promotes health awareness and empowers communities to make informed decisions. Personally, I believe education is the cornerstone of progress and a path to a brighter future.

From my own experiences, I have witnessed the transformative power of education. It can reshape lives, open doors and instill a sense of purpose. Education is not just about acquiring knowledge; it’s about nurturing dreams and fostering a generation of thinkers, doers and change-makers.

đŸ€Â Why I am joining the Bali Hope Swim Run?

Firstly, I love Bali and am grateful for the opportunity to have called it my home for the last four years. From the scenery, the diversity and last but definitely not least, the local community. Never have I ever travelled to such remote places feeling so safe and supported. When needed people have gone out of their way to help me at times when I needed it. In the area where I live I have a few routes and love the getting the friendly smiles, ‘pagi’s and ‘mantap’ – it is truly a place like no other, hence I want to give back to ‘mama’ Bali for all it has given me.

I am joining Bali Hope Swim Run as it has partnered up with Bali Children Foundation who do many great things within Bali and surrounding islands. For this particular event the funds will support THREE (3!) amazing causes:

1)    Literacy and numeracy for students in Lembongan with EdTech Programs

2)    English as a Foreign Language

3)    Lembongan Recycling Centre

Literacy and numeracy through EdTech Programs

Adult illiteracy is very high on Lembongan island as well as only having a lowest formal employment. There are no farms – other than seaweed – in Lembongan, so majority of it’s populations has jobs within tourism. Bali Children Foundation has seen amazing success with the EdTech Program, which is using tablets using literacy and numeracy apps for grade 1 students. Through this program Bali Children Foundation is able to make early interventions for students to ensure they have a better chance to excel in school, therefore have a better future and uplift their life and the life of their community.

English as Foreign Language

Bali Children Foundation focusses on grade 4 to grade 12 students to improve their English skills as a foreign language. This program emphasises speak and listening, which is crucial to boost their employability, especially in Lembongan’s ever-emerging tourism industry.

Lembongan Recycle Centre

Bali Children Foundation established a recycling centre in Lembongan to help the community to manage the trash that washed up on the shore from elsewhere. They are educating the youth of Lembongan through educational programs equipping them with knowledge of recycling and waste management.

Recently their was a fire accident which damaged the recycling centre which requires repair urgently, hence some of the funds raised will go towards the facility’s repair.
