Gili Literacy for all

Gili Literacy for all

A collaboration between Bali Children Foundation and Seri Resort.

After 19 years of working to improve educational opportunities for children in Bali’s remote communities, Bali Children Foundation faces the risk that COVID will undo a generation of great work.

Providing much more than an idyllic holiday on the island of Gili Meno, Seri Resort is already heavily involved with the community - sponsoring teachers at the local school, helping out on Lombok whenever they see a need, jumping in to donate much-needed playground toys at the local primary school and generally having a heart for the younger generation on the Island.

"We are so proud to have the team at Seri Resort in our BCF family. We've watched them come through tough times during the earthquake and rise up with integrity and determination. This partnership is one that inspires us to DO MORE. Seri Resort is a business with a social conscience and a heart for the community." Bali Children Foundation.

Right now the challenge we face is that children have missed out on over a year of schooling. The youngest students are missing those foundational lessons in reading and writing. Seri Resort is determined to not let this undo all the work that's been done, so they're campaigning to fund a literacy program in our Gili Meno school as well as upgrade the classrooms with new books and literacy support materials. They also plan to refresh the library with artwork on the walls - generally making it a welcoming space for the children and teachers. Once this is funded, we will also go on to do the same in schools on Lombok and the Gilis.
